New models for Retirement

You've probably heard about the concept of "Aging In Place," adapting homes to support people being able to stay there as they age. We think that's great, but not nearly enough. We have witnessed the power of "Aging In Community" making a difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors, and want to spread it to the world, through this website and books.

We now publish a directory of Village Networks (based on the Beacon Hill Village model) that are up and running. We are adding Senior Cohousing and other intergenerational cohousing neighborhoods, EcoVillages, and intentional communities, in partnership with nonprofit groups leading . Use the form on the right to find resources near you.

We have also recently added a general Aging In Community Resource List to help you find examples and historical precedents. Please contact us to suggest additions.

We hosted the Positive Aging conference in Berkeley in November and are planning additional workshops in the Bay Area in Spring, 2009; there will be a Village Networks conference in Oakland, California, on March 30th.
